This is a record of my trip to Taiwan in 2018.
Let’s do it right this year
The year 2018 is here.
This is the fourth year since I came to Tokyo.
This year I’m going to try to be a proper human being.
I prayed at the shrine. (I’m not sure.)
One last firework before I get it right.
My hand had taken the liberty of poaching the plane ticket.
Why am I going to Taiwan?
A while after I went to Malaysia, a friend of mine from school invited me to go on a trip somewhere with a few of us. Taiwan was mentioned as a candidate.
After much discussion, the trip to Taiwan was cancelled.
The reason is that the cheapest flight time is early in the morning, so it’s a bit of a heavy schedule for working people to check in at midnight on weekdays.
In the end, the trip was planned in Japan, and I ended up not participating in it. (Because I was hopelessly impatient with my lack of money.)
I felt impatient with the fact that I had no money, so I managed to get by by cutting food expenses and cutting things out.
I can afford to live a little stoically, and I bought a ticket to Taipei because the price of the plane was reasonable.
I decided where I were going with my insect habitat search
I immediately started researching insects in Taiwan.
The butterfly that caught my attention the most during my research was the Golden Birdwing butterfly.
It seems that the butterfly is a kind of Birdwing butterfly that represents East Asia.
Anyway, it’s really cool.
I set my sights on photographing the Golden Birdwing butterfly.
I decided to go to Kenting, a town on the southern tip of Taiwan.
It was good to have a destination in mind, but it was hard to come up with an itinerary.
The only thing I can be sure of is the time of the flight.
For the time being reserved for a hotel in Kenting.
I was also quite troubled by the route to Kenting.
From Taipei, take a bus or bullet train to Kaohsiung, and from Kaohsiung, take a bus for about 2 hours to Kenging.
I can take a bus from Taipei to Kaohsiung, or I can take the bullet train.
It takes 5 hours by bus and 1.5 hours by bullet train.
If I’m tired from flying, take the bullet train, and if I’m okay, take the bus.
No, let’s go to Kaohsiung in an hour and a half and do some sightseeing.
No, no, it’s probably cheaper to take the bus.
It seems to be my personality that I like to make random decisions.
I decided to decide how to go, depending on my mood.
I realized later that it might have been easier to save time if I had flown from Narita to Kaohsiung in the first place.
(Apparently there are no direct flights from Haneda to Kaohsiung).
Be driven by an impulse
I wish I had done my research before I bought my tickets.
Sometimes I tend to make decisions on impulse.
Even if it’s a life-changing event. (Seriously, I’m sorry.)
I’ve done a number of times where I didn’t go to the place I was supposed to be working for the first day, or worked for a few days and then suddenly disappeared.
Mr. Sawaki Kotaro, the author of “Late Night Express” also quit his job on his first day at work because it was raining.
Maybe I have the same temperament as Mr. Kotaro Sawaki, though I didn’t try to imitate him.
I think, however, that…
Sometimes calmness in deciding things clouds my judgment.
If I had been the type of person who decided things carefully without any lack of composure, I would have been a helpless person.
I’m basically a coward.
Sometimes it’s important to take the plunge instead of letting go and thinking about the future.
Ideally, I would have the courage to stand up to them without losing my composure.
However, I didn’t accomplish anything, I just went to Taiwan by myself.
This is just a record of the trip.
To be continued…
